Helen Shiers, 103

Hudson - Helen (Kotarski) Shiers, 103, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at Bolton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlborough, where she was a resident for the past 7-½ years. She was the wife of the late Walter Shiers, who passed away in 1985.

She leaves her sisters, Lenora Broderick and Isabel Pesci; several nephews and nieces; and many grand- and greatgrandnephews and nieces.

Born in Poland, she was the daughter of Walter and Franciska (Buchole) Kotarski. After living in Greenfield, she moved to Hudson, where she attended school and resided for most of her life.

Mrs. Shiers worked at the former Firestone Rubber Co. and the former Thomas Taylor & Sons as an inspector until her retirement. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hudson.

Funeral services were held Dec. 15 from the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home of Hudson, with burial at Forestvale Cemetery.
