Kane Elementary School wins $500 grant Marlborough - For a second year, Marlborough's Francis J. Kane Elementary School has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program that will help support the school's outreach to Kane School families. The money will be used to conduct a Family Literacy Night. Kristin Perrin, manager of the Boston Post Road Mobil on the Run station, worked with John Collins, Kane School principal, to secure the grant. It is one of 4,000 that were available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The grants were made possible by funding from the Exxon Mobil Corporation. "Kane School works hard to make learning interesting and fun, and encourages family involvement," Perrin said. "As an Exxon Mobil retailer, I am proud to help young students in the Marlborough Public Schools through this grant opportunity." The program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools. According to Collins, Family Literacy Night helps support parents in their role of helping their children at home. Parental involvement is an important part of Kane School's "Partnership for Learning." "We are fortunate to be a recipient of this grant again this year, and are grateful to the Exxon Mobil Corporation's commitment to supporting schools in communities," Collins said. Collins also thanked Perrin and assistant manager Yolanda Singleton for their assistance. |
