Shrewsbury considers implementing interactive community notification program

      Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Police Department and the town of Shrewsbury were recently accepted as part of the Worcester County interactive community notification program. The program offered by the Worcester County Sheriff 's Office is designed to alert residents in case of an emergency and is available to all public safety agencies throughout central Massachusetts.

Educators presented with praise, grant money

      Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Education Foundation (SEF) presented grant funding to 10 teaching teams during the group's 16th Annual Award Dinner and Dance Jan. 25. SEF awards grants to support programming that is determined to be creative and innovative, with clear goals and objectives and a longlasting impact for students and the school system.

Fashion accessory sale to support local agency
      Shrewsbury - Volunteers from Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services (SYFS) have organized an Open House for Sunday Feb. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will include the sale of fashion accessories, including EL Designs Italian handbags, Lia Sophia Jewelry, Silpada Jewelry, myAdea Lingerie and Chilly Jilly's wrap-in-a-bag.

Valentine's Gala an act of love
      Shrewsbury - The annual Tara Bean Valentine's Gala will be held Saturday Feb. 9 in memory of 9-year-old Tara Bean, a Shrewsbury resident who died of a brain tumor eight years ago. Tara was diagnosed just three weeks before her death.
