Committee votes on fee reduction options

      Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury School Committee has voted to eliminate all activity fees and fifth-grade music lesson fees and reduce athletic and transportation fees, if voters approve a $1.5 million override in May. Included in the $1.5 million is $500,000 that will be earmarked for school fee reductions.

School budget $36.3 million, an increase of 3 percent

      Westborough - It was an arduous process, but the Westborough School Committee approved a fiscal year (FY) 2009 budget of $36.34 million at its April 9 meeting. The figure represents an increase of 3 percent over the school district's FY 2008 budget, as requested by Westborough Town Coordinator Henry Danis in February.

      Marlborough - Marlborough Public School's Early Childhood Center is currently accepting registrations, on a first-come, first-served basis, for remaining openings in the 2008-2009 afternoon sessions. To register a student, he/she must be a resident of Marlborough.

Students volunteer with sledge Hockey
      Marlborough - Samantha Robinson of Clinton and Danielle Trotta of Marlborough work in the New England Sports Center kitchen, preparing salads for the luncheon buffet for the recent International Sledge Hockey championships. For two weeks, an average of 12 culinary arts students and two instructors prepared and served meals for athletes and trainers from around the world.
