Fort Meadow Reservoir to undergo herbicide treatment
      Marlborough/Hudson - Fort Meadow Reservoir, located in Marlborough and Hudson, will be treated Tuesday July 15 by Aquatic Control Technology Inc. to control Eurasian watermilfoil and variable watermilfoil. These species are invasive, non-native weeds that, if not controlled, will spread rapidly and choke the lake, making boating, swimming and fishing difficult.

Lightning causes house fire
      Marlborough - Marlborough firefighters responded to a two-alarm structure fire caused by a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm at 27 Barnard Road July 2. The call came in at approximately 5:14 p.m. The lightning had struck the home in the attic area.

      Marlborough - Army Pvt. Timothy S. Maynard recently graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Former Celtic holds local basketball camp
      Marlborough - Togo Palazzi, one of the Celtic greats from the 1950s, addresses a group of area basketball players after a hard workout during a recent weeklong basketball camp held at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School. The camp, which Palazzi has offered for the past 11 years for youths 8 to 17, will be held again the third week in August.
