PHOTO/SUBMITTTED Southborough - Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog, star of "PBS KIDS Sprout Fire Safety Tips" (following "Fireman Sam" episodes on Sprout On Demand), along with her companion, author and firefighter Dayna Hilton, recently visited Southborough to publicize Hilton's new children's book, "Sparkles Goes to Boston." The two have shared fire safety messages with millions of children and their caregivers nationwide.
The Southborough Fire Department is the location of the new book, which follows Hilton's first book, "Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog." The book focuses on a trip to Southborough to visit firefighter Jim Peltier and his friends at the Southborough Fire Station and will include fire safety tips based on Oklahoma State University Fire Protection Publication's comprehensive preschool curriculum project for young children ages 4 and 5 years old.
Peltier, along with Sparkles and Firefighter Dayna, are the main characters of the book. Fire Chief John Mauro and firefighters from the department will also be featured in the book.
