Student wins essay contest, scholarship

      Westborough - An eloquent, passionate plea for citizens everywhere to become more environmentally friendly was chosen as the winning Earth Day Essay by the Westborough Community Land Trust (WCLT). The plea, in the form of a 697-word essay, was penned by then-Westborough High senior Evan Gross of 1 Jefferson Road.

Red Cross babysitting certification offered
      Westborough - Westborough Youth and Family Services (WYFS) will be offering two sessions of the American Red Cross Babysitting Certification Course. The course is open to participants 11 years and older. A session will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 5, 6 and 7, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 24 of the Forbes Municipal Building.

Neubauer achieves Eagle rank
      Marlborough - George Neubauer was honored by Troop 303, Marlborough, June 1 in a Scout Court of Honor for his advancement to the Eagle rank. Neubauer's Eagle project was to beautify the entrance to the Metrowest Boys & Girls Club by painting murals on the alley walls.
