Pay-as-you-throw trash program gears up

      Shrewsbury - With pay-as-youthrow (PAYT) trash removal just around the corner, the Shrewsbury Health Department is working overtime to make sure everyone in town has the information they need prior to the Aug. 4 start date. The department's website is being regularly updated as more vendors sign on to carry the PAYT trash bags.

      Shrewsbury- Shrewsbury native and recent UMass- Amherst graduate Stephanie Millette was one of 13 individuals recognized at the college's Offic e o f Community Service's Awards for Community Service and Engagement held May 8. Millette received the Commonwealth Essay Award for her entry detailing her experience as a volunteer camp counselor and Head Start classroom aide.

Board forms home heating group

      Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen has formed a Home Heating Working Group that will look at creating solutions for Shrewsbury residents who haven't been able to keep up with their increasing energy bills. The group was formed after newly-elected Selectman Benjamin Tartaglia requested the board devise home heating contingency plans for residents in need.
