Church to host Open House for the community

Hudson - First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Hudson will hold an Open House Sunday Sept. 7, starting at 8 a.m.

The day will feature visitorfriendly demonstrations of the many programs that take place within the building. Examples include blood pressure screenings at the Open Door Free Health Clinic, a hearty lunch provided by Agape Café (a free weekly meal), yoga, bell-ringing, and other programming more typical of churches, such as counseling services and Christian education.

All ages will find fun and useful demonstrations. Children will enjoy building a real bridge with "Christ Contractors," a team of mission-trip participants interested in bringing their skills to the community. Adults will appreciate the cooking class offered Sundays by Chef Matt, winner of a recent regional Chili Cook-off. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about how to get control of debt.

The Open House begins with a free breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a visitor-friendly worship service in the sanctuary. After the service, participants will be free to tour the building and enjoy over a dozen demonstrations. Parents will also be invited to register children for upcoming Sunday classes.

The Open House takes a break after lunch and then resumes at 5 p.m. with a barbecue ($5 per person) followed by water volleyball and then, at 6:30 p.m., an outdoor sing-a-long and worship with the Sunday Night Alive! band.

FUMC is located just off the Hudson Rotary at 34 Felton St. More information is available at 978-562-2932 or at the website, www.hudsonfumc. com.
