New foreclosure law to help homeowners refinance

      Marlborough - A new foreclosure law is expected to bring much-needed relief for homeowners facing foreclosure. House Financial Service Chair and U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D, who was the principle author of the American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act, joined U. S. Rep. James McGovern, D, to discuss this new law at the Masonic Hall in Marlborough Sept. 4.

Technical school off ers entrance exam for nursing program
      Marlborough - The next entrance exam for the Assabet Valley Regional Technical School District's Licensed Practical Nursing program will be Friday Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This 40- week, full-time, day program prepares men and women for the NCLEX-PN licensure examination.

Friends of Library prepares for annual book sale

      Marlborough - Hard cover or paperbacks, every genre from kids, graphic novels, cookbooks, to fiction, there is bound to be a book for everyone at the annual Friends of Marlborough Book Sale. The three-day book sale will begin Thursday Oct. 2 and run through Saturday Oct. 4 at the Marlborough Public Library.

Concerned citizens set up anonymous tip line

      Marlborough - After hearing one too many stories of crime in the Brazilian community of Marlborough, one local couple decided to step forward with a mission and a plan. The husband and-wife team of Rafael and Carol Furnari announced Monday Sept. 15 the launching of a grassroots campaign to end violence within the local Brazilian community.

Wayside to host Forrest Memorial Road Race
      Marlborough - The 24th Annual Forrest Memorial 5k Road Race will be held Sunday Sept. 28 at the Wayside Racquet and Swim Club in Marlborough, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and race time at 11 a.m. There is a $15 fee to register in advance; the fee is $20 on race day.

Booster club seeks applicants for craft fair
      Marlborough - The annual Indoor Craft Fair sponsored by the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School Athletic Booster Club will be held Saturday Nov. 1 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Booths can be reserved for $30 and measure 8 by 10, and all reservations must be received by mail. Tables are not provided, but the club will provide two chairs.
