Environmental group to hold October meeting
      Shrewsbury - Waste Watchers of Shrewsbury will hold its next meeting Saturday Oct. 4 at Green Hill Farm, a Shrewsbury Community Supported Agricultural Farm on Green Street, just off of Route 20 in Shrewsbury. The meeting will start at 3 p.m.

Local Cultural Council receives state grant
      Shrewsbury - State Sen. Edward M. Augustus Jr., DWorcester, and State Rep. Karyn E. Polito, R-Shrewsbury, have announced that the town of Shrewsbury's Cultural Council has received a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) worth $7,800.

Bergstrom Field rededication postponed
      Shrewsbury - According to Kelly Marcimo of the Bergstrom Memorial Field Rededication Committee, the Bergstrom Field 40th Anniversary and Rededication Ceremony at Oak Middle School, scheduled for Sunday Sept. 28 following the Spirit of Shrewsbury parade, has been rescheduled for Sunday Oct. 26.

Local performers try to be 'idol'

      Shrewsbury - By Saturday Sept. 28, the field will have narrowed from 18 to eight and then to one, when Shrewsbury picks the 2008 Shrewsbury Idol. Presented as part of the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival, the third Shrewsbury Idol competition gets underway at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the auditorium of Oak Middle School.
