James F. Guild, 75

Northborough - James F. Guild, 75, died at home Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief struggle with lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Ellie (Santoro) Guild; his daughters, Susan Halpin and her husband, Jim, and Lori Perry; his grandchildren, Ryan and Carro Halpin and Stephanie and Katie Perry; and his sister, Carol Carr. He was predeceased by his son, Jimmy Guild, who died in 2006.

Born in Marlborough, he was the son of Everett and Carro (Hathaway) Guild and had been a resident of Northborough since 1960. He graduated from Sudbury High School in 1952 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War in Japan.

Mr. Guild worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Rotodyne in Marlborough for 35 years before retiring in 1996.

He enjoyed collecting coins, reading and was a Civil War buff. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed, especially by his friends at Colonial Village, the Northborough Library and the former Olive Branch.

Funeral services were held Sept. 18 from Hays Funeral Home of Northborough, with burial at Rural Cemetery in Southborough. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Northborough Library, Inc., 34 Main St. Northborough, MA 01532.
