Applefest coordinator extends thanks
      To the editor: I can't believe another Applefest has officially pa s sed. The weekend had beautiful weather, which brought out so many people from the community. Applefest was a huge success this year. I hope everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed all of the wonderful events that were planned.

Result of Kid's Voting Booth
      Dear Editor, The results of the 2008 Presidential election (under 18 Applefest voters' edition) are in. The Northboro Town Democratic Committee hosted a Kid's Voting Booth at this year's Applefest. Two hundred three would-be voters aged 5 to 17 years stepped into our booth and cast their votes for their preferred candidate.

Hatching a plan
      Hudson - In a hands-on herpetology study, students at Hudson High School recently took on the role of protector for a group of painted and box turtles whose mothers had laid their eggs on school grounds. Since the renovation at the school about five years ago, turtles from the Assabet River have laid eggs in areas on the school property that are no longer safe for them.
