First United Methodist to hold Rummage Sale
      Marlborough - On Saturday Oct. 4, a Rummage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 52 Church St., Marlborough, will off er bargains on cloth- ing and household goods. The sale will also include coff ee and doughnuts in the morning and hot dogs and soda in the afternoon.

Armory renovation proposal gets the ax
      Marlborough - City Councilors voted down the continuation of the condo conversion of the antique Armory located on Lincoln Street Sept. 29 after a request was submitted to the city to withdraw the owner's Special Permit application.

Coming in first in Forrest Memorial Road Race
      Marlborough - Chris Green of Marlborough comes in first at the 24th Annual Forrest Memorial 5K Road Race Sept. 28. The race benefited Greater Marlborough Programs Inc. (GMPI) Social and Recreation Department. In 12 years, the road race fund has donated over $185,000 to GMPI and completely funds several programs.

This year the city is once again inviting both residents and city employees to support eff orts to eradicate breast cancer by wearing pink Monday Oct.

Painting pumpkins
      Marlborough - Gianna Fossile and Let Marie Rodriguez, both 7, paint jack-o-lantern faces on paper plates during an arts and crafts workshop Sept. 25 offered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest at the Pleasant Street Clubhouse. Next, the young artists added string to the top of the plates and fabric with crepe paper streamers to the bottom.
