Florence Owen Schlemm, 96

Marlborough - Florence (Hillidge) Owen Schlemm, 96, formerly of Rockport and Englewood, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at the Carlyle House in Framingham after a period of declining health.

She leaves her son, William Owen and his wife, Shirley; her grandchildren, Jeff rey Owen and his wife, Melissa, Tamara Owen and Laurie Gamble; and her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Connor and Taylor Owen and Madison Gamble.

Born in Lowell, the daughter of Michael and Christina Hillidge, she attended school in Lowell and Haverhill.

Mrs. Schlemm was the proprietor of the "Lavender Shop" in Rockport for a number of years before selling it in the early 1980s. She was an avid reader and a loyal Red Sox fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

A memorial service was held Dec. 27 from Pilgrim Congregational Church, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford. The Morris Funeral Home of Southborough directed arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
