Ronald D. Wheeler, 68

Berlin - Ronald D. Wheeler, 68, died Friday, Dec, 28, 2007 in UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester following a twoyear battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 17 years, Marcheta (Carder) Wheeler; his nephews, Alfred Wheeler and Robert Wheeler; his nieces, Patricia Wheeler, Susan McDermott and Elsie Wheeler, and their mother, Patricia Wheeler; and several cousins.

Born in Clinton, the son of Alfred and Annie (Bernardson) Wheeler, he graduated from Hudson High School in 1959 and had been a lifelong resident of Berlin.

Mr. Wheeler was well known as a cook at the former Grille Restaurant in Northborough for 38 years. He owned and operated Ronnie's Café (which had been his lifelong dream), located at the rotary in South Berlin, for six years before retiring in 2004. He enjoyed traveling and drives to the ocean with his wife, Marcheta.

A funeral service was held Jan. 3 from the Hays Funeral Home of Northborough, with burial at North Cemetery in Berlin. Memorial donations may be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad, c/o Jan Bartlett, 23 Linden St., Berlin, MA 01503.
