Peter R. Chase, 73

Marlborough - Peter R. Chase, 73, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, died at home Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, surrounded by family, after a lengthy illness.

He leaves his wife, Grace Sheila (Meschini) Chase; his children and their spouses, Michael and Pamela Chase, Anne Marie and William Van Dam, Stephen Chase and his partner, Jake Fubrer, and Lisa and Cully Murphy; his siblings, Marie O'Neil and her husband, John, and Francis "Topper" Chase and his wife, Beverly; his sisterin law, Frances Meschini and her companion, Ron Bissonnette; and his grandchildren, Michael Chase, Samantha Chase, Emily Van Dam, Kevin Van Dam, Justina Murphy and Brendan Murphy.

A lifelong Marlborough resident, he was the son of Francis and Mary (Lord) Chase. He was a 1952 graduate of Marlborough High School and graduated in 1970 from Northeastern University, earning a B.S. degree.

Mr. Chase was a logistical manager for more than 34 years with Raytheon Co. in Bedford, Lowell, Sudbury and Maynard, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of St. Matthias Church and a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Bishop Rice No. 4222 of Ashland. A longtime member of Marlborough Country Club, he won the vice president's cup in 1992 and had a hole-in-one in 1998. He was a former member of the Marlborough Planning Board for several years.

Mr. and Mrs. Chase were avid travelers, traveling throughout Europe and Hawaii, and he enjoyed doing all his home improvement projects. Most of all, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 3 from John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.
