Children's book author visits Paton School

Shrewsbury - Author Barbara O'Connor shows some of her books to Paton School third-graders Connor Gedman, Jake Mastrandrea, Kelly Lopriore and Victoria Carroll during a visit to the school last month. An award-winning children's book author, O'Connor writes novels and biographies for children. Her presentation included the steps it takes for one of her books to be written and published, what

has inspired her to write some of her books, and the techniques she uses to write. Students were also engaged in an interactive lesson about being descriptive in their writing by using details.

The event was sponsored by the school's Parent Teacher Organization.
