Westborough - Well-known Shrewsbury author Rockie Blunt will be at Tatnuck Bookseller Saturday Jan. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. to discuss his book "Carnage, Cops and Deadlines."

The book chronicles his many years as a police beat reporter for the Worcester Evening Gazette, where he was a particularly prolific reporter and covered approximately 25,000 stories, including some 4,800 fires and nearly 400 murders.

In his book, Blunt adds a fascinating, behind-thescenes perspective to the business of news reporting and the world of the Worcester Police Department. A masterful storyteller, Blunt tells stories of the dark criminal element, of department politics and the growth of a newspaperman.

Blunt is the retired dean of New England police reporters and recipient of 35 journalistic awards on local and national levels. A decorated veteran, he is also the author of "Inside the Battle of the Bulge: A Private Comes of Age" and "Foot Soldier: A Combat Infantryman's War in Europe."
