Democrats to caucus Marlborough - Marlborough Democrats in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will hold a caucus at the Francis J. Kane School on Farm Road at 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 9 to elect 22 delegates and 14 alternates to the 2008 Massachusetts Democratic Convention. The caucus is open to all registered Democrats in Marlborough. To run as a delegate or as an alternate, you must be a registered Democrat as of Dec. 31, 2007, and registered in the ward you plan to run in. All ballots will be written and secret. Those not elected delegates or alternates who meet the qualifications may apply to be add-on delegates in the following categories: youth, minority and disabled. Elected delegates and alternates must also pay a $75 registration fee. The convention will be held Friday June 7 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. Democrats from across the state will endorse candidates for the office of U.S. senator. Candidates who receive 15 percent of the convention vote will be placed the Sept. 16 Democratic Primary ballot. Discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, color, creed, national origin, religion, ethnic identity, sexual orientation or economic status in the conduct of the caucus is strictly prohibited. Challenges to the delegate selection process can be filed with the Massachusetts Democratic Party, 56 Roland St., Suite 203, Boston MA 02129 no later than 10 days after the caucus date.
