Citizens appeal to selectmen to stop illegal dumping Hudson - Hudson resident Richard Kavanegh attended the Feb. 11 Board of Selectmen meeting to express concerns about the conditions of White Pond Road. Kavanegh issued a complaint about the condition of the road, which, he said, is riddled with potholes. He also brought to the select- men's attention the state of a parcel of land on White Pond Road that borders the pond. "It has become the new Hudson dump; it is a disgusting mess in there with people dumping refrigerators, desks and couches," Kavanegh said. Executive Assistant Paul Blazer recommended that the first step is to find out who owns the land. He also recommended that Kavanegh either take photos of people he sees dumping trash or take down the cars' license plate numbers. In other news, the selectmen voted in support of the town's application for funding under the fiscal year 2008 Community Development Block Grant program. With the grant proposal due next week and the allocation of grants proposed for July, the maximum that the town would be considered for is $800,000, with the majority going toward the renovation of the Senior Center. The next selectmen's meeting is scheduled for Monday Feb.25. |
