Samuel Soter, 82

Northborough - Samuel Soter, 82, a 50-year resident of Northborough, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 in UMass Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He is survived by his former wife, Nancy (Shepard) Soter; his children, Cathie, Jeff and Gary Soter and Lisa Lauchart; his grandchildren, Natascha and Benjamin Lauchart; his siblings, Michael Soter, Katherine Argir and Violet Assad; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gregory Soter.

Born and raised in Worcester, the son of Dimitri and Arthimisia (Nickola) Soter, he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Soter worked at Wyman Gordon in Worcester for 25 years, prior to retiring from Easco Hand Tools in Springfield as a plant manager. He was a loving father, devoted grandfather and an avid sportsman.

Funeral services were held Feb. 5 from St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church in Worcester, with burial at Howard Street Cemetery of Northborough.
