Business name: Todd Pizzi, DDS, LLC, Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry
Address: 307 Grafton St., Suite 203, Shrewsbury
Background: Practicing dentistry in Shrewsbury since 2004, Dr. Todd Pizzi strives to provide the local community with the highest quality dental care. He understands that many factors often prevent people from seeking dental care and maintaining their teeth. He wants to alleviate fear and anxiety by providing a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan for each patient. Having established professional relationships with other area dental professionals, Dr. Pizzi is dedicated to creating a network of resources to meet all the needs of his patients. And he prides himself on providing all this in a friendly, pressure-free environment he likens more to a hair salon than the stodgy and impersonal dentist's office of the past.
What does comprehensive care mean to you? "In dentistry, as in medicine," Dr. Pizzi said, "there are a lot of different specialists: orthodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons, etc., and we all tend to work independently. It's tough to really establish the type of relationships most beneficial to the patient.
"I work very closely with area specialists to allow patients to be treated, with the comprehensive goal being a healthy mouth. Sometimes the general dentist can't do it all; sometimes the orthodontist can't do it all; you need a good team. As the general dentist, I am the gateway, the director, the one that tells people where to go and to make sure the proper treatment gets done in the proper order … We want to fix the problem, not just fix the tooth."
What else would you like prospective patients to know? "My whole goal as a business is to make people feel comfortable, to make the experience a whole lot less traumatic than typically it has been in the past. We really try and focus on customer service; we take our jobs very seriously, but not ourselves very seriously."
