Central One Federal Credit Union
Central One Federal Credit Union was established in 1952 as an occupation-based credit union for Massachusetts Electric employees. Central One flourished for 46 years before applying and being granted a communitybased charter in 1998. It was then that the credit union opened membership to any "persons who live, work, worship, go to school in, and business and legal entities in" central Massachusetts. With so many years of reliable and dynamic service to the local utility work force and their families, the transition to a larger community of members seemed natural. Central One believes in a philosophy that provides the highest quality products and services to both savers and borrowers. It also strives to be the primary financial institution of all its customers, new and old. At the Shrewsbury main branch, Central One has established in-house business partnerships that off er financial services with special incentives for members. Currently, through Oak Tree Insurance Agency LLC, all members can save 10 percent on their Massachusetts Mandated Auto Insurance Premiums on auto policies written by March 31. Central One in Shrewsbury also off ers an on-site Financial Services Center. Headed by Michael Canfield, a fulltime investment executive with W.F. Financial, members can get a free financial evaluation and further guidance in today's ever-changing market. Central One has committed itself to its members by not only off ering the latest and most competitive financial products in the marketplace, but by also being an active and generous sponsor of local projects and communitybased initiatives. Over the years, Central One has been a major corporate contributor for everything from donations to the construction of the Westborough Association YMCA to donating a motorcycle trailer to the Shrewsbury Police Department. Central One also contributes money and resources to Shrewsbury High School, where it is a regular contributor to the Athletic Department and the Speech and Debate programs. In addition, Central One is currently sponsoring a financial literacy program aimed at enhancing basic financial skills such as budgeting, managing a checkbook and teaching students some basic credit card awareness before they head off to college. Striving to guarantee customer satisfaction, Central One also off ers general services such as sponsoring a book drive for seniors at its Northborough branch and holding Shred Day, an opportunity for members to bring up to five shoeboxsized containers of personal documents to be shredded. The Shrewsbury Main Office will have Shred Day Saturday April 26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The Auburn and Northborough branches will hold Shred Day Saturday May 3 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. With all this to off er its members, it's no surprise that Central One Federal Credit Union has maintained a customer satisfaction rate of over 90 percent for the last decade.
