William Caughey Clemmer, 80
He leaves his brothers, Robert Clemmer, John Clemmer, and Harry (Speed) Clemmer, his best friend; his children, Heidi, Kimberly, William Jr., Daniel, Richard, Kristen, Scott, David and Erika; 18 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews, Jasmine and Charlie, and cherished friends and loved ones. Born in Waltham, he graduated from Hudson High School in 1945 and lived most of his life in Northborough. An accomplished musician, Mr. Clemmer studied at Berkley School of Music where he later taught music. He served in the USO post WWII and traveled and performed for troops in over 40 countries. Later, he taught and directed plays for local schools and opened his own music and recording studio. He was a member of Worcester and Boston music unions. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, photography and the outdoors. He also contributed several published letters to the People's Forum in the Worcester Telegram. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 36 years, jazz singer Pat (Goodwin) Clemmer, who passed away in 2001. He was her piano player and they worked together for more than 40 years. They had extended engagements in Chicago, New York and Daytona Beach, Fla., and were members of the Boston-based Winiker Orchestra. Visiting hours were held Feb. 20 from Hays Funeral Home of Northborough. |
