Elsie A. Travers, 90

Marlborough - Elsie A. (Allen) Travers, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 at Coleman House in Northborough after an illness. She was the wife of the late Anthony Travers, who died in 1991.

She leaves her sons, Howard Whynot and his wife, Bette Ann, and Stanley Whynot and his wife, Mary; her grandchildren, Stephen Whynot, Paula Roberts and Diane Stewart; and seven great-grandchildren.

Born in Lynn, the daughter of Harry and Emma Allen, she was a lifelong resident of Marlborough and a graduate of Marlborough High School.

Mrs. Travers was a quality control inspector at Raytheon Corp.'s Waltham division for over 34 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlborough, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's Guild. She loved to crochet and make table clothes, was an avid crossword puzzler, and enjoyed reading.

Funeral services were held Feb. 23 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Marlborough. Memorial donations may be made to the Coleman House Family Support Group, c/o Karen Schultz, 112 West Main St., Northborough, MA 01532.
