The MathCounts team from the Advanced Math and Science Academy
Marlborough - On Feb. 9, eight students from the Advanced Math and Science Academy (AMSA) in Marlborough took second place out of 27 teams in a regional MathCounts competition. The students will now participate in the state competition in March.

The AMSA team includes seventh-graders Saarik Kalia, Sam Khalandovsky, Sorin Vatasoiu and Steven Tang. The alternate team includes seventh-graders Droova Ailyam and Ryan Newbury and eighth-graders Ben Caulfield and Christina Teodoresku. The team is coached by Holly Tang.

MathCounts is a national enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement.
