Elizabeth Carolyn Knepper, 73

Northborough - Elizabeth Carolyn "Carol" (Young) Knepper, 73, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at her home in Northborough, where she had resided for the past 33 years. She had suff ered from cancer for the past four years.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Telford Duane Knepper; her brother, Armour McKelvey Young; her daughters, Karen Knepper Katz and Barbara Zitscher; her sons, Jeff rey Knepper and Randall Knepper; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Homer George Young and Alice Edith Lowman of Glenshaw, Penn.

Mrs. Knepper was born May 31, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Penn., and graduated from Shaler High School in 1952. She subsequently attended Juniata College in Huntington, Penn., and began work at a local bank in Pittsburgh. In 1975, after raising her children, she returned to the workforce and was employed with Digital Equipment Corporation, where she worked as a Customer Administrative Supervisor. After dedicating 26 years of successful service to DEC, she retired in 2001.

She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and watching Red Sox and Patriots games. She enjoyed several trips, especially to Europe and to the various wine regions in California. Over the years, she made many dear friends with whom she shared a variety of activities. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will always live on through her family, to whom she was deeply devoted.

A funeral service was celebrated March 3 at First United Methodist Church in Westborough, with burial at Howard Street Cemetery in Northborough. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough directed arrangements.
