Westborough - Décor Custom Interiors & Gifts is a full-service home decorating store that offers customers a brand-new destination shop in the heart of downtown Westborough.

The store's anticipated grand  opening will be this spring, but the store is already open for business with new merchandise arriving daily.

Wall coverings, fabric, accent  furniture, artwork, accessories, and even body products and lotions can be found throughout the store. Custom window treatments, as well as ready-made treatments, are also available. Customers can select from fabric product lines like Robert Allen, Kravet, Stroheim and Romann, Greeff and more.

"I am so passionate about decorating," store owner Usha said. "For me, it's not like work at all. I have a degree in interior design. I have been in this business for about 30 years and first opened Décor in 1981. Eighty percent of my business is referral based. I love my customers. They are my energy and life."

There are many things that make Décor Custom Interiors unique. The store offers clients a home consultation for a flat fee. Usha is then able to see the space and help with selections of wall coverings, fabrics and even design features like window placement suggestions.

"We have a product line that fits every budget," Usha said. "The main line of the business is custom window treatments, … [including] custom blinds, window treatments, drapery, upholstery, bedding and more. This is the majority of my business. But, to put the spice in the business, we offer all of the other accessories as well as mirrors and lamps."

One of the trends that Usha has noted lately is that some customers want an "island feel," while others continue to search for timeless, traditional decorating ideas. Usha caters to all different tastes and can help customers implement a decorating scheme in country, traditional or contemporary style.

"I think comfort is very important in decorating," she said. "I think it should come first on a list of priorities and the look should follow. People are always interested in the trends but trends come and go. I always suggest to my clients that they should use colors and a style that they really like. This way they don't get tired of it."

The new boutique carries quality merchandise that is very reasonably priced.

"When customers enter the store, they … have my expertise here to help them. People don't often get that at a big box store," Usha said. "One frequent mistake that people make when they order blinds is that they automatically think that white ones would be best to match their white trim. I redirect them to a few shades softer so the look is not as stark. It's such a simple thing that makes a world of diff erence in a room."

Usha knows the importance of having fun while working. She follows advice that her father once gave her.

"Find something that you love to do and it will be successful," he told her.

Usha also credits her success to her loyal customers who, she said, have continued to give her support in all that she does.

In the future, Décor will continue to off er quality products and excellent customer service, which means Usha will be busy creating beautiful rooms for her clients.
