William Peters, 86 Northborough - William Peters, 86, of Ridge Road, passed away early the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2008. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Amelia Gelazius; his son, William Peters; and his daughters, Lorraine Peters and Judith Scher and her husband. He was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, George, Ferdinand and Walter; sisters, Margrette and Helen; and several nieces and nephews. Born September 19, 1921 in Brooklyn, N.Y, he was the youngest of six children born to Ferdinand Peters and Molly Schmidt. He had lived in Northborough since 1964. A precision gear cutter, Mr. Peters was not allowed to enter the military during World War II, as his skills were too vital to the war eff ort. He was proud to have worked on many parts of ships and armaments and even contributed to the Manhattan Project. He served in the Army after the war, receiving veteran status and privileges. Mr. Peters was a life member of the American Legion Post 234 in Northborough. He enjoyed fishing, visiting Prince Edward Island, and spending time with family and friends. His generous spirit and loving nature will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial mass was held March 15 from St. Bernadette's Church of Northborough. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough directed arrangements. |
