Local teacher turned down NBA career

      Shrewsbury - Dr. Dennis Klug, a teacher at Shrewsbury High School, once turned down the career of a lifetime. Just out of his senior year at Kent State, Klug was off ered a free agent contract by the New York Knicks. He turned down the contract to pursue his true passions: teaching and family.

Committee approves reduced school budget

      Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury School Committee has approved a budget of $45.99 million for fiscal year (FY) 2009, a 7.6 percent increase over FY 2008. Since the beginning of budget discussions, the budget request has dropped from a 9.7 percent increase to an 8.5 percent increase to the current 7.

Hastings displays colorful salt-water aquarium
      Westborough - The lobby of the Hastings School is brightened by an aquarium filled with colorful swimming life, thanks to the dedication of teacher Tom Salvemini (far right). Salvemini brought the aquarium to the school a few years ago to give the children a daily view of a variety of sea life.
