Elizabeth M. Moffitt, 84

Northborough - Elizabeth M. (Bannon) Moffitt, 84, died at home Friday, March 14, 2008 surrounded by her loving family, following an illness.

She leaves her loving husband of 60 years, John Moffitt; her daughters, Kathleen Moffitt and her husband, Robert Burrus, Mary O'Connor and her husband, Mark, and Helen Ranger and her husband, Russell; five grandchildren; her sister, Helen McHale; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Cambridge, the daughter of William and Mary (Grant) Bannon, she was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. She served in the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Moffitt lived in Brighton for 48 years before moving to Northborough 12 years ago. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be missed by all.

A funeral mass was held March 17 from Saint Rose of Lima Church, with burial at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough directed arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Commission of the Blind, 48 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116.
