Shrewsbury High celebrates Black History Month

The assembly, which was part of the school's celebration of Black History Month, included music, singing, traditional dance, information about African American historical figures and a skit about the "Little Rock Nine," noting the 50th anniversary of nine African American students who were enrolled in Little Rock Central High School in 1957 and were prevented from entering the segregated school.
Other members of the Black History Committee are Kim Paul, Niara Fair, Vanessa Duah, Ashaunte Humphries, Nigel Fair, King Duncan, Laud Duncan, Duke Duncan, Danny Canton, Derek Canton, Liz Nelson, Mike Horton, Julia Dobner-Pereira, Muneeb Elsakka, Courtney Barry, Courtney Butt, Vanessa Grajales, Bianca Castagna, Martine Atlabachew, Abdu Mubayyid, Paula Costa and Daphne Remulla. Denise Fair, Reagey and McGuirk worked with the committee to put the celebration together.
