Sandra Fryc joins race for School Committee Shrewsbury - Sandra Fryc has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Shrewsbury School Committee. She and her family have lived in Shrewsbury since 1992. She has a son at Shrewsbury High School and a daughter at Oak Middle School. Fryc graduated from Fitchburg State College in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in business management and she received an MBA from Assumption College in 1993. She is a senior dispute resolution consultant for Unum Insurance. Her volunteer roles include school council member at Oak, Sherwood and Floral Street schools, as well as being a long-standing member on the Shrewsbury School's Coordinating Council. She has been a Town Meeting member since 2003. Fryc is entering the race for School Committee because she believes all children deserve a quality education. "One of the greatest returns we can expect from our investment in education is students who achieve success and, in turn, continue to invest in our town and our country," Fryc said. "Yet this return is more difficult to attain with the uncertain future faced by our schools." Fryc also said that she is committed to listening to the concerns of all members of the community and working collaboratively with other town committees, while continuing to provide a quality education for the town's students. "My skills in finance, mediation and communication, as well as years of experience specific to Shrewsbury schools and government, allow me to evaluate the priorities of our schools and community," she said. "Analysis and working effectively with school personnel and community members in these financially challenging times will be the cornerstones to my success as a School Committee member."
