The $6 million dollar slam
Region - In early February, the Massachusetts Inspector General issued a report that accused officials at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School (AVRTHS) of mismanaging school funds. The report indicated that school officials had put aside some $6 million instead of using it to offset the assessments due from the school's seven member towns.

After weeks of finger pointing and incomplete information, the Inspector General's Office, together with the Department of Revenue, issued a statement that the funds were not mismanaged. In an age where the accused are presumed guilty and the media often take on the role of judge and jury, it's refreshing to see AVRTHS emerge with a clean bill of health.
