Greyson Thomas awarded Eagle Scout

Eagle Scout Greyson Thomas
Westborough - On March 22 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough, Greyson Thomas of Troop 4 was honored as an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts.

To bec ome an Eagle Scout, a scout must earn 21 merit badges, he must hold a position of responsibility within the troop and he must complete an Eagle Scout service project that benefits a churc h , school or community.

Greyson earned the required merit badges and held the leadership position of troop guide during his sophomore year and assistant senior patrol leader during his junior year.

For Greyson's Eagle Scout project, he chose to work with the Westborough Community Land Trust and the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, removing hazardous barbed wire from posts in three separate locations on the Charm Bracelet near the border of Westborough and Northborough. With 27 volunteers under his direction spending a total of 179 hours on this project, the barbed wire removal will ensure the continued safety of people walking the trails.

Greyson, a senior at Westborough High School, is a current member of the outdoor track team and was a captain of the indoor track team making it to the New England competition. He is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and plays the trumpet in the high school band and marching band. He is a Red Cross trained lifeguard and plans to pursue a career in psychology.

He is the son of J. Kelly Thomas and Judith Nicholson of Westborough.
