David F. Blanchard, 80
Northborough - David F. Blanchard, 80, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Worcester following a brief illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene (Kumle) Blanchard; his sons, Michael Blanchard and his wife, Diane, and Jonathan "Jay" Blanchard and his wife, Mary; his daughter, Pam Appell; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Joan Mackowiak; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Born in Leicester and raised in Worcester, the son of Oliver and Mary (Lee) Blanchard, he had been a resident of Northborough since 1955. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Wyoming and USS Fogg.

Mr. Blanchard worked for 34 years for New England Grocer Supply Co., formerly known as Sweet Life, as a sales manager. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Northborough and the Knights of Columbus St. Augustine Council. He supported many charitable organizations during his life and was an avid stamp and coin collector.

A funeral mass was held March 31 from St. Rose of Lima Church, with burial at Howard Street Cemetery. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough directed arrangements.
