Westborough - A national franchise serving the area for over 11 years now, Mr. Handyman offers home repair and maintenance, as well as commercial repair and maintenance. Wayne C. Taylor, president, has owned the franchise's location in Westborough for past three years and has enjoyed watching the business grow steadily.

"A significant part of this business is repeat business and referral," Taylor said. "Customers continue to recommend our company to friends, neighbors and family members. That's truly our best advertising."

Mr. Handyman offers a satisfaction guarantee. All technicians are licensed, insured, bonded and have undergone background checks. Each has at least 20 years' experience in the industry and are fulltime employees. In addition, all technicians wear a Mr. Handyman uniform and arrive on the job site in a Mr. Handyman truck with the company logo on it. All of that means homeowners can feel safe and secure when a representative of Mr. Handyman is in their home to do a repair.

"Our technicians are knowledgeable and efficient in the work that they do," Taylor said. "Because we work on a timeand materials basis, we are generally less expensive than a fixed bid. We have accountability for their work."

The jobs that Mr. Handyman focuses on are generally those that range from two hours to two days. Because they don't build additions, jobs like that are left to contractors.

"The housing market is slower and people are staying in their homes longer," he said. "We're helping them to maintain those homes and keep the house's value. If you take care of your home, it continues to build that value and keep that value. If you defer that maintenance, you end up with a lot larger bill at the end. So, if you don't replace the rotted wood, what ends up happening is that water actually ends up getting into the walls and you have a much larger problem. You need to be preventative."

According to Taylor, homeowners appreciate Mr. Handyman because they want to hire someone who stands behind his work and many other companies don't have the same standards that Mr. Handyman has.

Taylor also feels it is important to give back to the community. He has donated to local charities and has been a sponsor of sports teams in town.
