Lena M. Battaglia, 80 Marlborough - Lena M. (Di- Franco) Battaglia, 80, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Marlboro Hils Healthcare after an illness. She was the wife of the late Louis Battaglia, who died in 2007. She leaves her children, Carol Latt; Richard Battaglia; Lorraine Sharon and her husband, Arthur; and Jim Battaglia and his wife, Jane. She also leaves her brother, Vincent DiFranco; her grandchildren, Louis Battaglia, Anthony Battaglia, Christopher Sharon and Brian Sharon; and her greatgrandson, Austin Sharon. Born in Boston, the daughter of Vincent and Anne (DiNatale) DiFranco, she had lived in Marlborough for most of her life. Mrs. Battaglia, a graduate of Somerville High School, was a clerk for over 15 years in the city of Marlborough's Water Department, retiring in 1990. Previously, she was employed as an administrative secretary for many years at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham. A member of the Immaculate Conception Church, she was also an avid cook who was well known for her meatballs and sauce. Most of all, she enjoyed being with and feeding her family. She was a very talented self-taught organist and piano player. Funeral services were held April 11 from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home of Marlborough, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvatore Padula Chapter 82 of the D.A.V., P.O.
