Students give nickels and dimes to help local 5 and 10 Northborough - Students at Lincoln Street School in Northborough are putting their loose change to good use. They are holding a "Nickel and Dime" fund-raiser through the end of April, raising money for O'Brien's Five and Ten, which was destroyed by a fire last month. "Nickel and Dime" money jugs have been placed in every classroom, where students can deposit coins which will be presented to the owners of O'Brien's, along with a banner that the children make together. Lincoln Street School Principal Dr. Jean Fitzgerald said it's the perfect way for children to let the owners know how important the store is to the entire community. "I remember going there myself when I was younger," she said. "It's really just too bad that this has happened." The school is accepting donations in all amounts through the end of the month, and will present the final amount to the owners in May. |
