Northborough resident to be named 'Good Scout'

Mark L. Donahue
Northborough - Mark L. Donahue of Northborough will be honored at a greater Northborough Good Scout Award Dinner Tuesday May 6 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Marlborough. The Good Scout Award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for others in both their professional and personal lives.

Proceeds of the annual event will benefit the Boy Scouts' Knox Trail Council, which serves thousands of youth in 21 towns in the greater Metrowest area.

Donahue is a director in the Worcester law firm of Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple P.C., which he joined in 1986. He is the chair of the Real Estate Department, where he represents developers before local municipal boards in the approval of residential and commercial properties in Worcester and Middlesex counties.

His community activities include two terms as chair of the Worcester Community Housing Resources, a member of the Board of Directors of the Boroughs YMCA and member of the Board of Directors of the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce, where he also chairs the Chamber's Economic Development Committee.

In Northborough, where he and his family have lived for over 20 years, Donahue has coached town soccer and baseball and the Star Hawks Hockey Program. As an appointee by the Board of Selectmen, Donahue was instrumental in working with the towns of Northborough and Southborough to determine a common direction for the eventual renovation and expansion of the Algonquin Regional High School.

Since 1993, he has served as chair of the Northborough Industrial Development Commission, appointed by the Board of Selectmen to help foster commercial and industrial development in Northborough.

In addition to having a son involved in scouting, Donahue also served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors of Mohegan Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He and his wife are active members of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Northborough.
