Coldwell Banker Realtor Lee Joseph
Providing answers is Lee Joseph's strength
By Ken Powers Community Reporter

Realtor Lee Joseph SUBMITTED

Shrewsbury - A funny thing happened to Lee Joseph as she was on her way to law school more than 20 years ago, and her entire life is different because of it.

It was the mid-1980s and Joseph had just put the finishing touches on a dance career that focused on modern, ballet and jazz and had featured performances all over the country.

Back in the Worcester area, where she had grown up, Joseph ran into a man who had been her guidance counselor when she was a student at Burncoat High a few years earlier.

During a conversation in which Joseph filled in the man about attending and graduating from Connecticut College and her just-completed career in the world of dance, she mentioned she was planning to attend law school. Joseph's former guidance counselor thought that would be a fine choice, but he also suggested an alternative: had she ever thought about becoming a realtor?

She hadn't.

"I had never given it a thought," Joseph said, "and even when I did, I wasn't too sure."

What made her old counselor offer such guidance?

"He knew my personality," Joseph said. "He knew my work ethic and the fact that I was a people person. He said he thought it would be a good fit for me."

It is.

More than 20 years later, Joseph has risen to the position of Vice President of Coldwell Banker and has earned many awards. She was honored as a President's Elite Award Recipient from 2003 to 2005 and has been in the President's Circle from 2006 to 2008.

While Joseph has served on many committees and boards, she prefers her work and interaction with prospective buyers and customers.

"I guess that's the people person part," Joseph said. "I'm not a sales person. I bring to the table all the facts of a transaction - both positive and negative - for both sides. I want my clients to make an educated decision. I want them to walk away having addressed their needs and wants, not mine."

In her effort to not be just another person hawking real estate or just trying to land sales, Joseph has gone back to school several times and has learned many different facets of both the realty and construction business. She became a Certified Residential Specialist in 1999, earned her Construction Supervisor License in 2001, and became an Accredited Buyer Representative and Certified Negotiation Specialist in 2004.

In addition, she has served on the Realtor/Lawyer, Strategic Planning and Grievance Committees for Greater Worcester, as well as Board of Directors, Professional Standards and Recruitment Committees for the Builders Association of Central Massachusetts.

"I want to be able to answer every question a prospective buyer has and have it be a real answer," Joseph said. "I want them to be happy they chose me to help them choose their home. You can only do that if you're an honest, credible, reliable person."

Joseph lives in Shrewsbury with her husband, Steve, and daughters, Becky, 19, and Abby, 11. Becky is a finance major at Quinnipiac University, where she is a freshman.

Lee Joseph's office is located at 196 Park Avenue, Worcester. The phone numbers are 800-332-2123 and 508-635-6655. The website is located at www.leejoseph1. com and her e-mail address is leejoseph@townisp.com.
