St. Mary's Credit Union, AARP to offer older driver seminar
In conjunction with AARP, St. Mary's Credit Union will offer a driver safety program for older drivers (defined as age 50 and over) Tuesday and Wednesday, May 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The class will be taught at the 1 Northboro Rd. branch in Marlborough (2nd floor Directors Room). The cost of the course is $10 per person (free for St. Mary's members) and covers the cost of materials and workbooks. In addition, it is "Bring A Friend" month at AARP, so anyone showing their AARP membership card can bring a friend to the seminar free. Participants will learn defensive driving techniques; how to adjust driving habits for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time; and more.
Dance It Up summer intensive workshop
Dance It Up, located at 36 North Main St. in North Grafton, is proud to present distinguished international ballet instructor Joanna Duncan's summer intensive Storybook Ballet Production Workshop. The workshop will be held for three weeks, from July 28 through Aug. 15, and is designed for serious ballet students age 10 and up. Mark's Moving partners with 'Hits For Kids'
Mark Silverman, president of Mark's Moving and Storage in Westborough, has announced that a partnership has been forged with Kevin Youkilis' "Hits For Kids" to help raise funds for community-based children's charities and medical research organizations. Mark's Moving and Storage has pledged to raise a minimum of $10,000 for Hits for Kids by providing $100 in free moving supplies to everyone who donates at least $1 to the charity. Heritage Festival Hero nominee submissions
Nominees are being sought for this year's Heritage Festival in Marlborough and may be submitted to Marlborough Co-Operative Bank, attn: Sheila Langmeyer, 175 Main St., Marlborough, MA 01752. Also, organizers of the festival invite city students to participate in two contests designed to celebrate Marlborough history. Both an essay and art contest are open to students in grades 4-12 who either live in Marlborough or attend a school in the city. Entry forms are available at all Marlborough schools and Marlborough Co-Operative Bank or by e-mailing news@msjnews.com. The deadline for completed essays and artwork is June 13.
