Selectmen approve license for annual Community Fest Hudson - In less than 12 minutes, the Board of Selectmen breezed through the April 28 meeting agenda. Prior to adjourning, the selectmen approved outdoor Entertainment and Transient Vendors Licenses to the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce for the 22nd An- nual Hudson Community Fest. Rain or shine, the Community Fest is scheduled to be held Saturday May 31 between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. around Town Hall at 78 Main St. The event offers free entertainment, including music and rides for kids. There are also various businesses exhibiting their services and merchandise for sale. Last year, the event featured a diverse range of businesses and entertain- ment. From jazz music to moon walks to nature exhibits, the event brings the Hudson community together for a day of entertainment. The festival also includes the annual Duck Race near the Washington Street Bridge. Activities for this year include the Truck Zoo on South Street, which will have more than 15 vehicles, including an ambulance, ice cream truck, and military jeeps; a diverse range of music including bluegrass, jazz, and folk; and many sidewalk sales and promotions from local vendors. According to Community Fest organizers, the event attracts about 5,000 attendees, although attendance is weather-dependent. Vendor applications include pricing and booth details and are available online at www. assabetvalleychamber.org. To date, there are more than 75 vendors participating. There is still time for local businesses to apply and exhibit at the festival. The selectmen will meet briefly prior to the Town Meeting Monday May 5. The Town Meeting Warrant can be viewed online at www.townofhudson.org. |
