Historical Society Museum to host Open House
By Angela Greiner Community Reporter

Hudson - In 1920, Hudson was the home of Dr. William Coolidge, the inventor of the X-ray machine. The Hudson Historical Society, which houses Coolidge's first X-ray machine, is cordially inviting all of the community to an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Sunday May 4 to show off its new museum.

The society's museum, formerly housed on the third floor of the Town Hall, is now located on the fourth floor of the Hudson Business Mill Center at 43 Broad St. The new location, which itself is a piece of the town's mill history, is the former site of the Hudson Worsted Co. Mill.

Newly elected Historical Society President Peggi Sullivan explained that the museum now has some interesting town artifacts on display. Included in the collection is a full picture display of some of the Hudson men who fought in World War II and a collection of vintage turn-of-the-century medical supplies. Sullivan encouraged all town residents to visit the museum.

"You get to learn about some of the famous Hudson residents," Sullivan said, "and to see the history and heritage of the town's people."

The Historical Society which is currently waiting for the town's approval of a Community Preservation Grant to digitally catalog all of the artifacts and members hope that the community will take advantage of the Open House to visit the new display.

The Open House, which is handicapped-accessible, will run from 12 to 3 p.m., with refreshments.
