Historical Society to host house tour, tea
"We love this house and think it is fabulous," Candace said. "We are glad to be involved." The tour will be held Sunday May 4. Featured homes include: 75 West Main St., The Doctor's House (c. 1898); 115 Union St., The William Howe Homestead (c. 1790), 27 Prospect St., The Dr. James Campbell House (c. 1888); 407 Cook Lane, The Silas Temple House (c. 1760); and 233 Church Street, The Arnold Curtis House (c. 1894). Lee Wright and Janet Licht of the Marlborough Historical Society chaired the organizing committee. "These homes are a testament to the original architects, builders and owners, and to the owners over the years who have restored and maintained these homes," Wright said. "They all show a commitment to historic preservation in keeping with the society's mission of historic preservation, education and celebration in Marlborough." The tour will wrap up at the final property, The Peter Rice Homestead at 377 Elm St., with a tea. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour; they can be purchased at any of the homes. The ticket price includes admission to all of the homes and the tea. More information, including pictures of the houses and details about tickets, is at www.historicmarlborough. org/Tour2008.html. |
