Donald K. Bean Jr., 81

Westborough - Donald K. Bean, Jr., 81, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Westborough Health Care Center.

He leaves his wife, Ruth (Aldrich) Bean, and his children, Cynthia Drisko and her husband, John; Donald Bean III and his wife, Cheryl; Ruth Spaulding and her husband, Mark; and Robert Bean. He also leaves sister, Ellenmary Boeske, 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Born in Dorchester, the son of Donald and Annie Bernice (Spencer) Bean, he was educated in Natick schools. During World War II and the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Bean was employed as a cable splicing supervisor for Cambridge Electric Light Co., retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, he worked as a handyman for the town of Westborough.

He was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW.

Funeral services were held April 26 from the Evangelical Congregational Church of Westborough, with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. The Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home directed arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
