Summer golf classes, fourthand fifth-grade basketball, and sixth- through eighth-grade basketball will also be offered.

A PlaySoccer Tots Clinic will be open to kids 4 to 6, and will teach children the simple skills needed to play in a non-competitve setting.

Tots Summer Fun includes daily arts and crafts projects,  story time, games, and outdoor time.

Summer swimming lessons are available for all residents 3 and older, and will be held at the Sunset Beach Club at Lake Quinsigamond.

Children can attend a series of Friday Fun Trips, which will include trips to the New England Aquarium, Southwick’s Zoo, Canobie Lake Amusement Park and the Boston Science Museum. The cost of each tripis $30 per child.

There are also several single-day events that will be held this summer.

Kid’s Equipment Day will be held Saturday May 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Street Municipal Garage.

The Shrewsbury Community Summer Concert Band will perform at the Dean Park Bandstand Wednesday July 9 and Wednesday July 23 at 7 p.m.

The Fourth of July Community Day will be held at Dean Park from 12 to 4 p.m. and will include food, a doll and carriage parade, a disc jockey, a game show, and inflatable games for kids.

There is a town-organized trip to Nantucket planned for Saturday Aug. 2. A bus leaving Shrewsbury at 7 a.m. will deliver people to Hyannis, where they will hop the ferry to the island. The trip will allow for shopping, exploration of the island’s art galleries and beaches before returning back to Hyannis at 4 p.m., arriving in Shrewsbury by 7:30. The cost of the trip is $64 for residents, $74 for nonresidents. Children under 18 are allowed with parents only.

Tennis permits may be purchased for $30, which allows you to reserve 90-minute play periods at Dean Park. The courts will remain open to the public free of charge, as space is available; however these players must yield to permit holders.

Permit holders may reserve space online; however, only two reservations may be open at any given time. There is a limit of one permit per family, and only one playing time per day may be scheduled.

Any one who donates to a summer scholarship fund will be entered to win a chance for early registration. A $5 donation will purchase two chances and a $10 donation will purchase five chances.

Winners will be announced Tuesday May 6, and will be able to register prior to May 10.
