Spring cleaning at Beal School
By Melissa Muntz Community Reporter

Shrewsbury - Students, parents and staff armed with small garden tools will take on the spring cleaning job at Beal School and Beal West in Shrewsbury Saturday May 3 at 9 a.m.

Interested volunteers will help spread new mulch on the school gardens, weed and redistribute playground fiber at the two schools.

Beal Principal Alice Brennan said the event is the perfect opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise with your child while helping to beautify the school.

"It's a real community builder," she said. "Parents get a chance to meet each other and talk while doing something that benefits everybody."

Brennan encouraged parents to bring their children even if they won't participate in the clean-up because they'll still benefit from a day in the sun.

"The kids that aren't helping can play in the playground and one parent will typically watch the whole group," she said.

The clean-up event was created by the Beal School Parent Teacher Organization Gardening Committee.
