John J. Manning, 55

Venice, Calif. - John J. "Jack" Manning, 55, formerly of Southborough, died after a long illness. He was the son of Dorothy (Pariselli) Manning of Marlborough and the late John J. Manning.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Tanya; his sister, Donna Healy and her husband, Edward; and his nephew, Jason Healy and his wife, Shelena, and their daughter, Siena.

Mr. Manning began his career after attending Berkley College of Music, touring the world with the group "The Hues Corporation," conducting at England's Royal Albert Hall and riding the wave of one of their hits "Don't Rock the Boat." He then moved on to do studio work with "Mister, Mister," earning two platinum records. After spending time with Universal Studios in both special effects and sound effects on the "Incredible Hulk," "Brainstorm" and "Tron," he chose to start his own computer company and a software tax company, all while he was studying for a PhD degree in psychology.

He will always be remembered for his passion for music and his incredible Irish wit.

Private funeral services were planned with burial at the Rural Cemetery in Southborough. The Morris Funeral Home of Southborough assisted with arrangements. Memorial contributions maybe sent to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, Dept #0096, Washington, D.C. 20055 or Until There Is A Cure,
